The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, has successfully delivered emergency relief supplies to 250 individuals affected by flooding in Papua New Guinea. The Kagua-Erave district, located in the Southern Highlands Province, experienced severe flooding and landslides last October, displacing many residents and causing significant damage.
According to a report from the Post Courier, the relief efforts, financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aimed to address the urgent needs of the displaced and most vulnerable families. The supplies provided included essential items such as basic shelter construction tools, kitchen utensils, hygiene products like soap, sleeping mats, jerry cans for water storage, and gardening spades to help restore livelihoods. This vital assistance underscores the ongoing commitment to support communities in crisis and highlights the importance of international collaboration in disaster relief efforts.
