US-based tech mogul Elon Musk has likened liberal billionaire George Soros to Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, the principal villain in the Star Wars movie series. The barb followed Joe Biden\u2019s decision to bestow the Presidential Medal of Freedom on the powerful financier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent months, Musk has emerged as an increasingly vocal supporter and close ally of President-elect Donald Trump, who has appointed him to co-head the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a message on X on Saturday, Musk posted a collage that depicts President Biden conferring the decoration on the Star Wars anti-hero, with the caption reading: \u201cGeorge Soros looking quite good here. Must be the lighting.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Commenting on another user\u2019s post, in which they compared the 94-year-old billionaire to Magneto \u2013 the main villain in Marvel\u2019s X-Men comic book series \u2013 the South-African tech tycoon who also holds US citizenship said Soros\u2019 decoration was a \u201ctravesty.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n On Saturday, President Biden named nineteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom \u2013 America\u2019s highest civilian honor, \u201cpresented to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.\u201d<\/em> The Democrat hailed those individuals as \u201cgood people\u201d<\/em> who \u201chave made America and the world a better place.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Soros, whose propaganda and media network has supported coups and revolutions in multiple countries, did not attend the ceremony, with his son Alex accepting the award on his behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to a statement released by the White House, \u201cthrough his network of foundations, partners and projects in more than 120 countries, Soros has focused on global initiatives that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Also among those singled out by Biden for their contributions was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who \u201cmade history many times over decades in public service.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In a post on X, Soros wrote: \u201cAs an immigrant who found freedom and prosperity in America, I am deeply moved by this honor.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Critics have accused the billionaire over his role in the collapse of the British pound in 1992 and in Thailand\u2019s financial crisis five years later. Through his Open Society Foundations network, the businessman has actively attempted to influence political processes in multiple countries around the world.
