Australia and Solomon Islands Forge New Security Pact to Enhance Police Force

In a significant development for regional security, Australia has entered into a new agreement with the Solomon Islands aimed at expanding the capabilities of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele of the Solomon Islands and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese jointly revealed the initiative, which they describe as a pivotal advancement in the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The agreement encompasses a comprehensive package that includes funding, training, and infrastructure enhancements designed to strengthen the RSIPF. A key component of this initiative is the establishment of a new sovereign Police Training Centre in Honiara, which will further support the professional development of local law enforcement.
